In 2015 every child voted for our current class names and the names of the two main school buildings. The children voted for gemstones as class names and two key things in Loose for building names.
Brook and Orchard buildings were named to represent the local area of Loose when historically these were the two main sources of work in the valley. Click here for information on the history of the local area http://www.looseareahistorysociety.org.uk/
All Brook building ( YR and KS1) classes are ‘Brook’ colours - clear, white and blue to represent the colours seen in water. All Orchard ( KS2) classes are the colours of orchard fruits - green, orange, red, yellow, purple.
Our 21 classes are:
YR - Opal, Pearl, Crystal
Y1 - Diamond, Moonstone, Sapphire
Y2 - Turquoise, Aquamarine, Tanzanite
Y3 - Jade, Coral, Amber
Y4 - Ruby, Onyx, Emerald
Y5 - Sunstone, Amethyst, Topaz
Y6 - Zultanite, Peridot, Quartz
The children said that it was important to name classes as gemstones as this represents the fact that we are all individual, special and are being polished as we learn, grow and develop into marvellous human beings!
